John Kempe is a senior executive manager, leader, and executive coach with extensive experience in the resources sector, specializing in major projects and business development. With over two decades of leadership, John has sponsored and lead large-scale development in the oil and gas industry, across subsea, offshore and onshore market segments. His expertise includes project sponsorship, EPCM/EPCI contract delivery, commercial negotiation, and strategy development.
As the former VP of Business Development and Strategy for Technip, John led teams to secure contract packages worth up to $500M USD, while also serving as Technip’s Project Sponsor for Chevron Gorgon Upstream JV and Inpex Ichthys Offshore Commissioning Contracts. His global leadership experience includes serving as CEO of Offshore Marine Services, where he managed a global team of 120 staff and 2000 offshore crew and a range of offshore support vessels, delivering projects exceeding $1.2B USD.
John also brings a unique leadership background from his time as Commanding Officer in the Australian Defence Force Special Forces, where he commanded a regiment of 400 soldiers. This experience has shaped his approach to leadership and team dynamics.
