Facilitator biography
  • Bob Hunter is a highly capable senior executive consultant with extensive experience in commercial management, strategic planning, change management, and developing high-performing teams across various environments. He is known for his personal leadership resilience, which he has demonstrated through numerous diverse and challenging situations in corporate, non-profit, and military settings. An engaging communicator, workshop facilitator, and leadership mentor, Bob has proven expertise in executive business management and leadership challenges.
  • As Senior Executive Consultant of Rekon Group Pty Ltd, Bob leverages his extensive experience in corporate and business management, leadership, team effectiveness, strategic planning, and strategic and operational risk management to deliver exceptional results. His tenure at Rekon Group underscores his ability to build high-performance teams and implement transformative initiatives to optimise operational performance.
  • From 2016 to 2021, Bob served as CEO and General Manager of Rugby WA, where he managed significant organisational change and financial challenges, transitioning the Western Force from voluntary administration to a sustainable commercial organisation. His experience includes commercial development, corporate governance, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Previously, Bob was the Founder and Managing Director of OAM from 1998 to 2009, an international security risk management and business intelligence consulting firm with operations in Australia, Indonesia, Africa, and the Middle East. His leadership saw the business thrive, which continues today as Osprey International. His expertise encompasses SME startups, business management, commercial development, and corporate governance.
  • Bob’s distinguished military career includes serving as a Special Forces Officer in the Australian Army’s SASR from 1995 to 1998, where he commanded operational Counter-Terrorism elements and led strategic and operational planning, logistics coordination, and crisis and change management leadership. He also served with the United Nations Truce Supervisory Organisation as a Peace Observer in the Middle East, gaining insights into strategic geopolitics, international affairs, and cultural diversity. Earlier roles in the Australian Army involved leadership and command of Infantry and Special Forces combat units in various challenging environments, further honing his leadership capabilities.
  • Bob holds a Master of Business Administration from Curtin University of Technology and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies from the University of New South Wales at Duntroon, where he graduated as the Senior Cadet, BSM, with the Sword of Honour Prize. His education and experience underpin his core leadership philosophies, emphasising leading by example, accepting responsibility, self-improvement, and fostering team welfare and development.
  • In addition to his professional pursuits, Bob is passionate about fitness, rugby union coaching, surf club activities, golf, travelling, camping, and amateur ornithology.
